The following objectives of Prolingua are central to Prolingua's activities:
This list represents the equivalents Prolingua has proposed since 1984 and also contains terms proposed before that year.
- to standardise, as far as possible, subject terms that lend themselves to standardisation;
- to improve the quality of translations in general;
- to give members the opportunity mutually to discuss their translation and terminology problems, with the Prolingua list of terms as the outcome of these discussions.
Some of these terms are not found in dictionaries and therefore, this list is an extremely valuable resource for translators.
Prolingua does not claim that the equivalents are the only possibilities and we welcome all proposals.
Suggestions may be sent to Petro Lancashire at firstname.lastname@example.org.
